pb is awesome!!!pb drinks wd40 for breakfast!!! I needed to rebiuld the front of my fairlane, and knew itdb a pain, so two days prior I spray every nut and bolt, and it came apart like it was put together yesterday. I only use wd for keeping drill bits cool.
spray some penetrating oil on it, and put your socket on the plug with an extension and tap the end of the extension a few times with a hammer, that ought to loosen it up.
idk, plugs are pretty fragile. make sure its your last resort before picking up the BFH.once the end is busted off, its hard to get a socket on straight enuf and turn the hex
i've always been able to get mine loose that way. don't get carried away or anything, just a few light raps nice and square on the end of the extension to help that penetrating oil get in there better
The absolute BEST and I mean BEST penetrating oil that I've ever found is KROIL. We use it in the lab where I work. I've done many of these plugs and suggest this:
1) Blow out the plug hole before even touching the plug. This will get the
dirt out of the hole and keep it from falling in upon plug removal.
2) Spray some KROIL down in the hole and LET IT SIT for about an hour.
3) Go out and GENTLY turn the plug about 1/8 of a turn and add a LITTLE
more KROIL and LET IT SIT for another half hour or so. This will allow the
KROIL to get down into the spark plug threads.
4) Turn the plug out 1/4 turn, then in a little. Then out a little, then in a little
This should solve your problem and I hope this helps.
Old Style said it perfectly, "slow and soak", turn it back in a hair, you'll have it screamin' for it's Mommee' in no time. I believe in doing it with a stone cold engine, what do you other guys think? I work on motorcycles a lot, if I have to pull a plug on a warm aluminum head, feels like I'm taking some threads out with it.
