Wiring????? Fuses?????

i have an issue with my rear wiring and i have tried to repair it but its not helping. brake light work but a very dim... and when the running lights are one, you cant hardly tell i am applying the brakes. what gives? if anyone knows of a rear harness in good shape, let me know. i dont have the money to put into a painless system or even something similar. also, i just realized that the person before me didnt replace the fuses but instead just put in aluminum foil. does anyone have a diagram to show exactly what size fuse is supposed to go where?

Most fuse boxes are marked with appropriate fuse size for each circuit.

Tail lights giving you trouble? Ok, here's the low down on that. There are only FOUR wires going to the rear of the truck(barring any hack job and added stuff). The four wires will be RUNNING lights(usually a brown wire), LEFT turn, RIGHT turn(one is yellow the other is green), and BACK UP light(not sure what color).

If anything, start up near firewall and find the four wires and trace them to the rear. If no one has hacked it up, then start farther back. Using a test light or volt meter, test each wire to confirm operation.

You may have an issue with your TURN SIGNAL switch as your brake lights work THRU it. Go to the rear of truck and find the original 4 prong plug(should be there on drivers side by rear bumper). Try a turn signal and confirm one prong gets juice. Try other signal. Now hit brakes and BOTH of those previous prongs should have power.

Try to narrow down the issues by testing the leads. Remove the bulbs or make sure you unplug that rear plug to make sure you don't have stray current backfeeding and giving you false information. Electrical stuff isn't really hard once you understand the basics.

Clean all of your ground connection at all light wells, front and back. Need to pull the lens and housing loose to gain access. This is where I found most of my problems.
