Engine Restore?

While we are discussing additives.

Understanding that we have a HUEI in our PSD. What is the side-effect of using Engine restore in our crank case?

Don't do it. Additives in oil can cause foaming issues.

What is the significance of "foaming issues?" What does it do to the engine?

Since HEUI injectors use high oil pressure to fire the injectors and atomize the fuel, foaming prevents the injectors from firing correctly. If foam is in the high pressure oil system, then injectors fire with lower atomization and you have a rough running engine, stalling issues, excessive smoke, etc.

I thought Engine Restore is that snake oil in a bottle that "Fills in all the cracks and pits in metal surfaces". It supposedly uses tiny metal particles that seek out and fillin the cracks.

I have never used it but a bit of thinking might lead to questions such as 1) How does it know what holes and cracks to fill and which ones not to? Like piston ring lands, oiling ports etc 2) What will it do to a precision expensive device like an injector?

In my opinion based on hearsay and reading, this stuff is only for engines on their last legs anyway. Just a bandaid to get you some miles until you can properly rebuild an engine. I might use it in a gas engine, but I would be worried about the injectors on a diesel, since they are operated by the oil system.

Just my opinion,

Jim Henderson

I'm sorry but i don't think its a bandaid . I would lean more towards a joke. Don't waste anymore of your money on it.

I guess I would want to know why you use it in your gassers?

On a technical note I really don't see how it could work. If a motor is that bad off it needs to be rebuilt the correct way. I don't like bandaids. I tend to spend the money and do things right. Sorry, just my 2 cents.

Someone might find it, but not too long ago I read a report about these oil additives ( I can't remember where I found it). In the study nearly all of them were found to be bad for any engine and stripped the oil of very important lubrication, suspension, and other properties.

A majority of these oil treatments are a joke and for all practical purposes, a scam. There are only a handful that actually did anything, but the cost wasn't worth the minimal gains.
