Just bought my first F150. Its a 94 Flareside extended cab. It needs leaf springs in the rear. Can I put springs in this out of an F250 and if so which years are interchangeable? Does it matter if they come out of a regular cab? Any help is appreciated. If not then I have the same questions which (year, model) F150's will fit?
No. Not with out changing the hangers. f150 = 2.5 wide / f250= 3.0 wide
BUT HD springs are availe that bolt in up to 2450 lbs per spring they cost ~$150 per spring.
bighitter28,
i had the same question. i haul heavy loads of scrap metal in my 94 F150 all the time. i want to upgrade rear leaves as well (I have the 5 leaf HD springs but their old and gettin tired) F150 2wd leaves are 2.5" wide just like 44dwarf said. but, F150 4wd leaves and all F250/350 leaves are 3" wide. my truck is a 2wd so i will have to swap brackets, but if your truck is a 4wd you just need to swap out the leafs. hope this helps.
Please be awhare that 3inch wide f250 spring have less of an arc to them and adding them to the main 150 leaf works yes but the shacle angles change and you end up with a stiffer ride with less travel cause you run out of shackle angle.
Best to do it once and do it right.
