Crate options or custom build options...
What i want is an aluminum headed 532 or 545 with a Hyd roller and forged internals...is there anyway to build a complete engine like the 460 crate for the same money?
Yes you can. SCAT has a 545 rotating assembly with the crankshaft, H rods & forged alum pistons. There are other stroker kits out there too. Then you pick the camshaft, remember that with 545 cubic inches, you need a larger cam than you would run in a 460.
I build a 545 stroker using SCAT with internal balancing (with zer0 decking the block and 33cc dished pistons I have 10:1 compression), John Kasse alum. heads, a comp cam extreme energy XE276 cam, I built it for low rpm torque & power, you could go bigger for more power at higher rpm,s. I used Edlebrock's Air Gap Performer, again you could use a single plane intake. I topped the intake with a Holley 750 double pumper. And I used L&L headers into a dual exhaust.
I dyno'd the engine and had 500 hp at 4,000 rpm with 600+ torque from 2,000 to 4,000 rpm.
I did spend more than the crate motor but I also built the engine exactly as I wanted it.
Good luck with your project.

350-thats pretty much what i want...545, p51s roller, all forged...something with 600-600 and a power band thats as flat as a pancake at the top.
i think i might call sean hyland motorsports and see what the deal with the 6600 dollar 460 is...add plug wires, carb and headers...let 'er eat.

wouldnt this kit make it so you wouldnt need any of the brackets from L and L or customizing mine now if i were to do a swap? im not too familiar with serpentine.
As far as the motor, it is a 528 with a scat 4150 crank, oliver rods, venola pistons, ported and polished blue thunder heads, victor manifold and a 1050cfm dominator carb. It is 9-1 compression and makes 646hp and 632ftlb torque on 91 octane pump gas on the dyno plus a 250 NOS shot on a progressive controller.
