I DO know that the sheetmetal used 1961/66 is far thicker than anything Ford used later.
Don't compare sheetmetal on today's trucks from anything made in the 1970's. The metal used today is so wafer thin, it's dangerous to lean against the truck. BAH-BOINK = DENT CITY!
If you want after market parts go here www.certifit.com I have used them before (the 73-79 doorshells were not all that bad and capa certifed parts and fit real well) and a lot of late model car crash parts but the late model stuff factory is junk anyways but they are realy cheep on ther stuff I think the fender is like $49.oo or so

Ditto on the above. I buy a lot of pieces from them. So far the parts have been much better than other imports over the last 20 years. You cant beat the price, but then you are buying direct instead of going thru a specialty vendor.
