A/C pump

A/C pump squels when it en gages, only when I have the defrost on. I priced a new one out 420.00 BUCKS!!

Can I put a belt shorter on to not run the pump? will my defrost still work?

you defrost is "helped" by the AC. without the AC on, you can still blow warm air on the dash, just not nearly as quick results

So I should be fine to put that belt on then, good news! until I find a decent used one for replacement.

Does the A/C system have to be Charged with freon to "help" as you say assist the defrost?

i would think so.

....wait for another answer from an AC expert before you make a final decision

I am pulling the electrical plug off, It only happens when the clutch engages. See what happens. Worry about the A/C in July!
