I am wanting to put duals on my 2001 f 350 and was wondering if someone could tell me where to get the kit. Someone told me it could'nt be done, that I would run the tires off the rear cause of axle alignment, but if I do spacers on front and rear I should be o.k.
It's been talked about here before. You might try a search. I remember saving a link or two. I'll post them. To do it right would be to replace the rear ford 10.5 with the dual dana 80 rear end. The links I saved are for kits. I'm not endorsing either, I just had them saved.
Adapter kits will not bump up the GVWR or GAWR of the vehicle. The proper way would be as you guessed, swapping out the rearend.
You see some people on here with a DRW wishing they had a SRW. Maybe you could arrange a swap with them. You will need the clearance lights on the dually fenders to be legal. Not a big deal, just letting you know.
I thought about going the rearend swap route myself. And I would probably consider trading if somebody was close enough to UT.

I don't know what to do. Maybe just trade it in for what I want. I need a dually for the weight that I will be pulling. I was thinking I could modify and save some bucks, but probably won't in the long run. The truck will be used for hotshot. hauling freight across country. Pulling 45' low boy gooseneck, pulling upward of 20,000lb. The truck I have would work great and I love the truck but I don't know if it will be worth the mods
20K on a gooseneck and full time cross-country...you "could" do it with a F-350 dually with air bags, with at least 4.30 gears. An F-450 would be a better choice, better brakes, 4.30 gears, better weight handling and more durable and safe for that kind of weight.
