Lightbulb Adding Grounds

so the other day i was on ebay and i noticed these grounding kits to add more ground wires to specific sensors and places in/on your vehicles. i know the claims of hp increase are probably false but i am sure that it would help the sensors read with better accuracy and possibly help with gas a little but i wouldn't buy one, i would make my own. what do you guys think?

Grounds are definitely important. The engine and tranny are mounted in rubber, as also is the body on the body mounts. But the factory already has ground wires to ground these components which is perfectly adequate for the stock elec system. The only problems that come up are corrosion of these grounds because of age, and mechanics who do not realize the importance of reconnecting these grounds when a engine or other components are swapped out.

You can certainly add ground wires and not hurt a thing. Sometimes it's easier just to add a ground wire rather than figuring out where the factory ground wire is, and fixing it. Specific places that need a good ground are remote mounted alternator regulators which are mounted on the frontend sheetmetal, the frame, and the firewall which will ground the cab. The main large ground usually bolts to the engine block, since it serves the starter which is a large power user. The other grounds can be smaller wires running from the engine block or the battery negative terminal.

If you have a special circumstance, such as a snowplow like I have, I would run another large ground from the battery to the component itself. Most Fords run the large ground down to the frame on the way to the engine block. But as I said before, these trucks get old and corrosion sets in, so I just run a extra ground as if the factory ground did not exist.
