I have a 460 with KB 10:1 flattop pistons, roller rockers, bored 030 balanced, cj connecting rods, headers, Edlebrock Performer intake, and it is cammed to have power from about 1000-6000. I will be using 3" hooker max flow mufflers, I will use 3" after the mufflers out behind the rear tires. My question is should I use 2.5" or 3" from the headers to the mufflers? I didn't know if I will be sacrificing alot of low end torque with a 3" system.
This is going in a 91 F-250 4x4 with a C-6 and 4.10 gears
How much power is to be gained by using a crossover pipe?
I don't know about the difference between the 2.5" and 3" exhaust but I went with 3" pipes from headers into two 3" Hi-flow Cats and dual Flowmasters. It sounds great and runs great. Cost $800 about 6 years ago (shop would not build system without CATs)
I did not have a cross over put in but it is supposed to add some low end power.
Thanks for the reply, I am going to go ahead with 3" a friend of mine has a tubing bender and does it as a hobby at his house. I don't have to worry about cats Kansas has no inspections, but most exhaust shops around won't do it without cats either unless you know them.
