My brake lights don't work. I replaced the turn signal switch a couple of years ago to address non working turn signals. The hazard lights work, the turn signals work, so I'm guessing the brake pedal switch is not working. How do I test the switch or do I simply replace it? I'm not a fan of simply replacing parts.
Thanks for all the help.

Get on up under the dash with a test light. Follow the brake peddle till you come to the switch.
You should have power to 1 side of the switch all the time. The other side only when the peddle is pushed.
If you don't have power check the fuses.
If power in but not out replace the switch.
If power in and out then you need to trace out power wire to see where the power stops.

In addition to what Dave has suggested, you can unplug the connector from the brake light switch and jumper the two contacts. That would simulate the brake light switch being closed.
Also carefully check the wires at the switch. It's a funky design where the switch moves. Every time the brake pedal is depressed, the wires flex. I found one wire broken there on my truck.
