Got my 2' coil spring spacers in finally, my neighbor installed them for me (he's a mechanic)$80.00 well spent I think. Definately will need front alignment as instructions stated, camber is way out. Strange thing is I measured from bottom of wheel well before and after and its almost 3" taller now,( dont get that as spacers were only 2") anyway it sure looks better now and feels better in the cab, more like a 4x4. Getting it aligned this week .
the reason why you got 3" cause the 2" is on good springs , but yours were sagging like most of them do, so now you got 3"
glad it worked out for you...
Also could be the leverage. The springs aren't at the outermost point of the axle. If they are 2/3 of the way out with 2" of lift, then you would have 3" at the outermost point, (stated in a rough sort of way). This applies only with independent front suspension. This is just an idea. I'm not familiar with 2wd.
i also would like to see some before and after pictures. i just got my set in the mail today and i am going to install them tomorrow, get it aligned and put on my new set of 265s at the same time. hopefully it will give it a better look.
ill be taking pictures of it and ill see if i can post them when i get it all buttoned up.
Pete & Chris - Havent gotten time to take & post pics yet- It definately stands much prouder . Looks like my bother in laws 4x4. I installed the rear air bags also and that raised the rear end up about 1-1/2" with only 40psi in them. I'll hopefully get some pics tomorrow & post. Got cold here and furnace work picked up in a hurry. Good Luck Chris!!!!!!!!!!!!!
ill get some pictures posted up of the before and after with the same tires, and then with the new 265s. how long did it take you to do the install? any tips/tricks i should be worried about? i am going to pick up a spring compressor tomorrow before i start working on it.
i got the spacers on today, and put on my new wheels and tires too so my truck looks a lot better than it did before. i just uploaded all the pictures from my digi cam to my computer, tomorrow at work i am gonna type up a short write up and include the pictures. so that others will be able to find the information easy i will post the write up in a new thread. until then, i must say it wasnt too hard, it only took a couple of hours once i had the right stuff to get the job done, the alignment is what took the longest. the shop i went to didnt have to parts in stock and had to run down to the part store to get them.
thanks to all who gave me help with the process, and illpost up the article this weekend.
That might be right up my alley. I'm running Fabtech 6.5 inch springs up front now and could go for a couple more inches. I am making some changes in the rear-end and don't particularly want my truck to be raked. I used to run 8.5 inch Donohoe springs for an '05- 4x4 but it road like *****. I'd like to see a pic if anyone could post one.
Not a picture of the lifted truck, but a picture of the 'mounted' spacer in question.
i did a write up on the lift/leveling kit install. i cant figure out how to post pictures on here, so i am going to put up a couple of links to them and to the write up. its uploading right now. ill start a new thread.
hey guys i put up a new thread with a link to the writeup i did, which includes large color picturs. the title of the thread is 2wd Lift / Leveling Kit Install (With Pictures)
the reason why you got 3" cause the 2" is on good springs , but yours were sagging like most of them do, so now you got 3"
glad it worked out for you...
...and because it has about 3 degrees of positive camber. When they install the alignment bushings it will pivot on the lower ball joint and pull the top of the tires in towards the fenders. Right now it is sitting mostly on the outside of the front tires. It will come down a little. Probably well less than an inch.
