At the top of this forum you will find the Tech Folder. Go to it and look up (powerstroke 6.0L technical intro manual) Then click on the link for duncan/ps60_manual. Once you are on this web site go to page 86 and there you will find the directions for torque on the head bolts. It will give the order and the torque specifications.

I had read pg 86 but it doesn't make sense to me. I gather from reading that pg. head bolts 1,3,5,7and 9 are torqued more than the rest of them. I don't know if that was a typo or what. What about bolts 2,4,6,8 and 10, don't they get a 2nd torqueing before you go into the 90 degree phase of the chart? I am going to be doing studs in a couple of weeks and am wondering if I just keep doing the 1-10 sequence in four different steps to 245lbs or do the 1-10 once then do (1,3,5,7 and 9 then 2,4,6,8 and10)X3 to get to 245. Any info would be great.

If I'm not mistaken, the torque sequence has been changed since that was written. You do NOT do the 90* turns when using studs since that is for the torque to yield head bolts. Maybe Matt can shed a little more information on this. It's been a year since I did them. I do know the 245 ft/lbs is correct, I just don't remember the correct order.
