I have not started my truck (07 6.0, approximately 16000 miles) in about a week and a half, and yesterday when I did I noticed a good bit of white smoke coming out of the exhaust for about ten seconds, then it stopped. Everything else seemed fine.
I have changed the oil myself at 1,000, 5,000, 10,000 and 15,000 miles. Never any issues or problems. I also changed the fuel filters about 500 miles ago and that also went very easy with no issues. I have no mods to truck at all, other than the high idle mod which I did at about 1500 miles and also have not chiped it.
No other problems that I could detect, and the smoke disappeared totally after about ten seconds. I did notice this once before at about 8000 miles, but I attributed that to a very cold day.
Is this something normal, or should I be taking it back to the dealer?
Dont worry. Mine is white for a few minutes everyday when I start it up. You can see a little while smoke as it warms up. I hope its ok! It runs great all the time but just when it starts up it likes to put out a trace of white smoke for ten minutes.

It is normal if it clears up not long after. Cold days especially get that, I know with my tractors they'll smoke for awhile especially on a cold day and then they'll clear right on up.
totaly normal just a little moisture, throw some powerservice in you tank on a regular basis to help with lubrication and to rid any water in your fuel, I run b-5 and the truck runs soooo much smoother and quieter!!!
Where do you get powerservice and what does it do?
Walmart or truckstops.
It adds lubrication for the injectors, increases the cetane level, may increase fuel mileage (didn't appear to help mine), and does a few other things.
The winter formula (white jug) prevents fuel gelling.
I have been running the Ford cetane booster in the warmer weather, and the anti-gel cetane booster in teh cold weather, and I think I like them more than the Power Service Diesel Kleen. Truck seems to run better, plus I think you use less of it per tank so you only need a smaller bottle in the truck. Not sure which is a better deal price wise, especially when you start considering some dealers will sell it wholesale to you, others want full retail. I hate that!
Thanks for all the replies. I guess I don't have to worry about it anymore.
As a side note, I have been using the power service additives since I bought the truck, so I really don't know how it might be without it. Getting around 17 when driving it locally, and about 20 when it's all highway driving.
