The best way to rust proof your exhaust, is to get SS exhaust. But some people use high heat paint.

I guess the paint doesn't burn off then. Seems a lot cheaper than the SS. I'll do the paint.....thanks

it will not burn off..its stove paint for woof stoves...EGT's should never get over 1200 on the exhaust side long enough to burn it off...

Another thing to consider is to rust proof your oil pan if you live in states where they use salt and deiceing chemicals on the roads.. You have pull the engine to replace the pan.. Been reading alot of posts here where oil pans are leaking becuz of rust..

Thats another good call Clint. That would be tuff, pull the engine to fix a rust spot that leaked. Preventive maintance.

I have to lift the engine to change the pan....Seems a little easier to rust proof it before it leaks. I had to do the same on my 94'f250...took the pan back to the parts store and used apoxy to fix a leak when I ran something over and punctured the pan...

What could I use on the outside of my up pipe, baby's but, and manifolds to prevent rust?

Ceramic coating or nothing as it will likely burn off, and not worth the expense of coating the outside with something that won't burn off.

Couldn't you do a sacrificial anode like they do with underground piping? Or would the more reactive metal cause problems or have a lower melting point....hmmm.... anyway... Stove pipe paint would work good as said above, or get an aluminized steel exhaust...my IDI had that and it didn't rust up at all...

Aluminized steel is very cheap, it rusts fast if not covered with something.
