Will 77 Bed Fit 79?
Hey Guys, My Brother Needs Bed For His 79 Swb,found A 77,is There Any Difference? Also I Am New To Site And I See A Lot Of Post About Highboys, What Classifies These As Highboys? Brothers Is 79 4x4,351m,auto. Thanks A Lot For Any And All Help!!

Ford didn't make them after the 77 model year. Ford never used the term "Highboy" to describe this truck, it's just what everyone calls them for whatever reason. Welcome to the site and hope this helps .

While it WILL fit...and it does look the same on the outside.. Since the highboy frames are narrower, the holes to mount it to the frame are in the wrong spot. You simply have to redrill the holes to fit the wider frame.

Highboys: Originally the name was coined to mean = 1973 thru early 1977 F250 4WD Regular Cab with an 8 foot bed.
No F100/150's, no short beds, no crew cabs, no super cabs are considered highboy's. Just what I typed above.
1977 = Last highboy made before serial number Y20,001.

yes the bed will match right up anything from 73 to 79 will match up i mean anything i had a 78 and i like the 2 piece grilles better so i took a 74 grill shell and changed it out its a little tight to the top bolts but you can change any body part and interior part within those years

Doesnt the 77's not have a fuel door on the bed. The top to the filler neck is on the side of the bed and 78/79 has a fuel door and its recessed or did that start earlier?
