Hey guys, does any one know where the 12 V outlet in a 97 F150 gets its power from and if theres any fuses in it?
I was screwing around playing with a multi meter arched it out and now there's no power @ the 12 v outlet.
I checked the owners manual & Hanes. Could not find anything in Hanes. And could not find any fuses for it in the Manual. The cig lighter still has power.
Am I missing something? What do ya'll recommend?
Thanks
Thanks for the reply LXman1 what should I look for in the power distribution box?
This would be a lot easier a few years ago but I have so many wires ran behind my dash that it sucks having to get back there now. I got the add on thermometer wire, 3 wires for the Sat radio, 3 wires for my aux lights, all the stupid wires that hang out behind the after market deck, cb wires, and my flashlight charging wires. I love having all these things hooked up and 0 wires showing but man i screwed myself for working behind the dash...
What would the book call the fuse for the 12v outlet? I looked at every fuse box in the book and nothing made me think it would apply to this. The closets thing I found was GEM general electric module... i think. and there's about 10 or so of those i think
???
try changing i beleive the number 3 fuse on the left hand side under your dash...think its 10 or 20 amp i blew it ahwile ago and that was the fix, it was yellow fuse
I just have jump in on this thread.... is the 12V output being referred to one of the two 12v recepticles in the dash? The one closest to the streering wheel has stopped working but the other one works fine. Are they powered by different fuses?
Yes they are on different circuits I started this thread back in January. If you pop the hood there is a fuse box near the left front tire side of the engine bay. I do not remember which one... if you scroll up & read the previous post I think some one says which fuse or about which fuse. But just start pulling fuses in there looking for broken ones... I want to say 25a but not sure.
Another thread jumper here, in the fuse box under the hood are there extra un-used fuse receptacles? I'm lm looking to wire in some fogs and thought it might be easier to access this panel rather than the one under the dash.
I found fuse # 10 in the big box on the driver side. Check the inside of the cover to determine fuse # 10's location, should be the last mini-fuse in the second row. After replacing this fuse, I now have power to the plugin closest to the steering wheel.
