My temp gauge BARELY moves, even when the truck has been driven 100 miles. I changed the temp sending unit today, and this did not change anything on the gauge. The top coolant hose gets hot, the bottom hose is never very warm. I do not think it is a thermostat problem because the truck warms up and has heat as it should. Is there another sensor that I am not finding? Any other ideas?
Thanks

Thanks, Jeremy. That's what I was thinking, too, but the fact that the sensor moves at all has me confused. Wouldn't that mean that the sensor was getting something? Is it possible for the needle to be stuck and it can't move? I checked the connections behind the instrument cluster, but could not figure out if there was a way to pop the individual gauges out to change or check them. Can that be done?
That I do not know for sure. If the needle is moving, you're right, it's getting some sort of signal. However, how that signal may not be the correct signal at the dash, or the dash may not be interpreting the signal correctly. Unfortunately, I don't know the specs for this, a DVM would come in handy. You'd want to know the resistance for the sensor at a given temp and test it first since it's the easiest. Then, you'd need to get behind the dash to see if the signal coming to the dash is correct. Something tells me that somebody has the specs and tests for these, but I do not have them.
Before you rule out the 'stat being stuck open, do you have heat within 5 minutes of starting the truck (at least a little warm air) or does it take a lot longer? My stat was stuck open and it took for bloody ever to get heat. At least it seemed that way when I was freezing my sheckles off in the cab...
