Anyone know how to yank these dang things off? I gotta pull mine tonight and replace em.. Not sure where to start LOL.. I'm talking bout the factory Plastic ones..
or like any other plastic product, you could try to heat them up a little prior to tearing them off. Might make it a little easier. I've never taken them off myself.
Just start at the back of the bed and work your way forward. It is loud, and it will bend up the thin sheetmetal under them, but they will come off. It is rediculous the number of holes they put in the bed to hold the stupid things down.
Will the new ones go in fine and look normal if its pulling the sheet metal up?
I made mistake of bolting my toolbox to bed rails and those chrome bars.. Since I got Stacks coming.. I'm gonna replace them and just use J bolts for my Toolbox this time..
You should be able to bend the sheet metal back down after you get them off. It is rediculously thin, thats why Ford put the plastic on there to begin with.
It's going to be next weekend.. They dont ship til Monday now But I'm prepping everything else while I'm at it.. Less I have to do.. I also got new gauges too.. 4 DiPricol Gauges on the A-Arm
When I put my DEEZEE brite tread aluminum bed caps on mine. I started the pull of the plastic ones and said wait a minute. I put the aluminums over the plastic just to see and low and behold they were designed to go over the plastic. The fit was perfect and you cant even see the plastic ones under it.
Beerstalker is right it's loud and it does bend up the metal a little. With a body hammer you should be able to bend everything back to almost like new, and I don't see why new one's wouldn't jsut snap right back in. I pulled mine off and welded a thin peice of sheet metal over the holes and had it Rhino Lined with the bed, so everything matches. They did a really nice job.
