Rear Hatch not locking

First off, what a great site. I've have my X for 2 years now, and i found this site today. Awesome!!

The rear hatch is not locking. I experienced all of the doors not locking over the years, but I heard this was a notorious problem. I replaced the door actuators, and they work fine now. Anyway, when I replaced the one in the hatch, it didn't fix the problem. As it turns out, the latch (keylock) that the motor goes into, is super hard to actuate. I think over time, the motor got weak. I've sprayed lubricants all over, and it doesn't help it. It's very hard to move the latch even with my fingers. I can manually actuate it with the key as well, but I swear, the key will break soon.
So, any reason this would be so difficult to operate? The new motor can barely turn it, so I'm wondering if I need to replace it. From Ford, it's $200+. If anyone can recommend a way to relieve some friction, that'd be great. Otherwise, I think I'll just have to bite the bullet. Just seems pricey.

Yeah, mine got really nasty too a while ago. When I replaced the actuator, I actually completely removed the whole latch mechanism assembly and sprayed it with all kinds of degunkers like WD40 and liquid wrench while moving all the levers and stuff to really work it clean and then relubed it with a spray lithium grease before reinstalling. I haven't have problems since.

My only advice is that you take a good look (maybe even a picture) of exactly how it fits and EXACTLY how you slide it out of the rear liftgate shell. For me, it slid out really easily, but I spend the better part of half an hour to figure exactly how I had to slide it in to make it go back into its spot. Just trying to save you a headache
