Air in Fuel system

I have a 2002 7.3L and I replaced the fuel filter and now the truck will not start, I vented the filter housing (had fuel spitting out as I tightened the cap, but the truck will not run any suggestions? It tries to start.

Welcome to FTE.

Turn the key on and listen for the fuel pump under the drivers seat on the frame rail. You might cycle it twice. Then try to start it.
