battery question

I have 79 f350 with a 351 modified. My problem is with charging the battery, when the voltage regulator is disconnected the battery has 12.5 volts in it with the engine off, when I connect the voltage regulator up the battery goes up to 13.4 volts with the engine off. When I turn on the engine the battery is up to14.7 volts

The voltage values being found can change depending on HOW fast the engine is running and the disposition of the battery itself

The VR usually kicks in at about 850 rpm or of the battery is low in charge after starting.

To me...Those values you have are normal.

Btw,Engine name = 351M

Please Drop the word "modified" if you are talking about a stock engine
