np 200
just finished puttin lockers in the 70 rear and 60 front but that is not the ?
Almost all i read says the 200 transfer case gets hot real easy.
This truck will not be a interstate cruiser but wonder if i am wasting my time on this 200 transfer case.??
using the old axles but they are passenger side drives so cant go ford here.
Hear that 205 will drop right in.??
dont know..All i have ever had were Fords...
and this "kind of " will be..
You might be better off doing this anyway because the 200 has an offset rear output shaft, and the 205 is in the center. I would imagine that you would have a pretty wicked compound angle on the rear driveshaft using the D70 and a 200 case. (assuming that the diff is in the center, you may end up with a very expensive driveshaft, or a fair amount of vibration)
205 can probably fix a few problems with one upgrade.
Marmon Herrington trucks used a Pass side drop front diff, and a 205 divorced case that was basically for a Dodge for thier conversions back in the day.
Would be a simply swap since the 200 is already divorced.
Just a thought.
it is offset to pass. still quite an angle to t -case.
i also understand that you can hook up to the emrgency brake drum and the rear drive shaft.
is the 205 solid gears ?
no chain?
Most owners ditch the t-case mounted brake, and use later model cables that utilize the parking brakes in the rear axle. You have the provissions, just need the cables. Pretty easy mod. You can still use the factory handle, it will just activate axle brakes, and not the driveline brake. Pretty sure you can get creative and make a yoke that will fit the 205, and then fab up a bracket to hold the drum if you have to have the original brake.
That compound angle will vibrate if you do not address it. Double cardan joints work well here, but the right t-case with the correct output will minimize the angle, and decrease the potential of the vibration.
this truck will have air bag 4 links and will move up and down 12"
so
guess all i am saving out of this build is body-bed and axles....
told my son-in-law lets do an old bronco ....instead.
think i was right..
There are also kits that use a disc brake rotor and caliper as a replacement for the drum style parking brake. These are available for 205 cases too.
Another thought would be to simply install a "line-lock" for the brakes. Two types, manual and electric. Activate the valve via a solenoid or lever, and the brakes are on until they are de-activated. Simple install, and very effective.

If you need some help with the "micro-loc", or other similar line lock device, my local HD truck supply shops still have them. I can pick up the stuff and send it to you if it helps.

only real issue was that they were............heavy...........
but we got them up to the assembly bench.
have a few seals to track down...
may take you up on that micro lock but that maybe layer in the process.
i am moving on to the 390 swap and son-in-law goin to chase down the lock outs that did no show up yet.
As far as the micro-lock goes, I have access to the shop that carries them, and can have the stuff sent to you in a jiff. I am in So Ca, so we are not too far away.
we thought about going in back and getting the hoist...
but
