checking instrument cluster guages

checking instrument cluster guages
does anybody know how to check the instrument cluster guages with the cluster out of the truck? I have a voltage tester and a circuit tester if these will work. I want to make sure all the guages work BEFORE putting the cluster back into the truck.
Also, the lights did not work when the cluster was in the truck. I know there are threads on this topic - the printed circuit sheet is not corroded. what else do I check?
