For the most part an honest Mom & Pop shop can be competitive..Some are and some are not just like the big corporations can be out of the ball park on there pricing also...Shopper beware
That is true...When I need something I usually check the price online at the big stores, then go to the small guy and see how it compares...
Wifey and I just pulled into and right out of Walmart parking lot? Why are they so busy today? I thought welfare went out on the 1st and the 15th? We went to local grocer, paid a little more, didn't have as many choices, but parked 10ft from entrace, didn't wait in line, supported local economy, and got help putting groceries in trunk. This was an hour ago
i tell ya, with wholesale prices on the rise, mom and pop stores will probably face there hardest years yet coming up...we can only hope things will get better
people like big sparkly pretty things no matetr what the quality is. that is why so much is spent opn advertising, if consumers were as smart as they think they were, there would be no reason for companies to spend so much advertising a product.
but take for instance 2 cans of soup, one is all pretty like cambells and the other is plain white with black lettering thaat just says what type of soup it is, people will buy the pretty cambells just because of the packaging even if the other soup is better.
my small company i work for have 2 people dedicated to advertisment of the products, it is pretty amazing the detail they go through to ensure things like the coloring of letters, background, product placement, etc..that they go through. while they have 2 people for product advertisment/sales, they only have 3 engineers for product development.
not saying anything against, but that is just how humans operate, we like big, bright, colorful things that attract us.
