Just looking for opinions on the Nitto AT Terragrapplers. Main thing I am concerned about is mileage on them. Theyve got a pretty attractive price but if Im only going to get 30,000 miles out of them it would make more sense to go with BFGs or something. Thanks for the input.
30,000 is about right for the Nittos, but that's all I ever got out of my BFG's at considerable more cost. Don't understand it, but at tire rotating, it's always the back ones that show wear.
I had my 1st set on for 65K 325/60/18's on my Excursion And now onto my second set. I also had them on our F150 with about 40K on them before we traded in the truck. They could of gone another 20k I believe.
Do you think the low miles you are getting out of tires has anything to do with running the 315's on stock wheels? Are the King Ranch wheels you have on there wider than my lariat wheels?
I have had 305's and 285's. I would say 35,000 is about it out of the Nitto AT. Tires balance good and wore fairly well, just never seem to last as long as you would like.
I have Terra Grapplers in 285/75R16E on stock wheels on my truck. So far I have just under 20K on them, I do get them rotated and balanced and the front end alignment checked every 2500 miles or so. I also just put on the Centramatic balancers but only had them on a few thousand miles so far. I think these tires started with 15/32 of tread and they have about 10 or 11/32 now IIRC from the last time in. I think I'll get 40-50K life out of them. Traction is OK, I think that has more to do with the OEM LS being junk than the tires.
I would like to go with a 35" tire next time but good luck finding one that isn't wide. It's a lot of coin but I'm still thinking about going to 19.5" wheels from Rickson and running a 265/70R19.5 which is 34-34.5" depending on brand and tire. I don't know if the 285/70R19.5 would fit without rubbing as they're a tad over 35".
I'm running 295/75-16 in the Nitto T/G on 8" rims only got about 8000 mile so far but they still look great, I can't complain about the traction in the rain or deep wet snow, they work great.
I love mine. They are nice and quiet. Smooth ride, handle great and look nice. I run 355/65/18s (37x14x18) and have 35,000 miles on them and expect to get another 10-15,000 out of them. I run mine at 40psi and rotate them every 5-7,500 miles. I think this helps extend the life of the tread on them. I plan on the same tire next time, unless I go with a more aggresive look. Then it will be the "Nitto Mudd Grapplers".

No, The tires are wearing very even. My problem is my right foot likes to go to the floor as fast as it can. Like I said, my rears are wearing twice as fast as my fronts. Never had a problem before the programming and exhaust and other mods. The fronts would always wear faster than the fronts. The wheels are stock lariat.
