These trucks can save your life

No kidding. A guy the other day rolled his 150 three times but was not hurt. The cab was intact. Amazing. I dont know about the other brands out there but the 150 is sure built Ford tough it proved it there.

I witnessed a rollover the other day. A woman and her teenage daughter in a 2006 Screw, came across the highway, went nose down into a ditch, flipped over on the top and rolled, ending up on the wheels. The top was hardly dented, the nose was crumpled and they were completely unhurt, just shookup. Yep, they are strong. Would hate to see a Silverado do the same trick.

It was an older F-150, but I rolled the 1991 F-150 in my signature. Was going a bit to fast on a gravel road and came upon a hard right corner. Back slid out on me and the drivers rear wheel fell off the road. The road bank was a steep 5~7ft drop with an old barbed wire fence at the bottom. needless to say, the truck cleared the fence, rolled over, and landed right side up stopped in the field still running. I was wearing my seatbelt, so just went along for the ride and didn't get hurt. I shut the truck off, and climbed out of my open window (door wouldn't open). The cab was pushed about 1/3 of the way down on the passengers side, but besides light dents, it was mostly ok. I locked my hubs in, got back in it, put it in 4x4, drove it out of the field & home. The truck is gone but I was impressed with the way it held up the rollover. Hopefully the 2006 that I have now would fare as well. Hope I never have to find out.

T. J.

That's why I bought my F 150. I saw what this truck did to a Honda Accord. The F 150 ownner got out of his truck and was fine. The Honda owner could not get out of his car and was in bad shape.

The current generation F-150 has the highest NHTSA safety rating (5 stars) for frontal impacts, and a rating of "good" (the highest rating) for the IIHS offset frontal crash tests run at 40 mph.

I haven't seen any roll-over test results on vehicles. Does anybody test that?

I'm expecting my new F-150 around mid-February, and while safety wasn't my top priority it weighed in to my decision.

That's good to hear, but I'm still puzzled why they don't offer side air bags.

Last year my '04 Screw took a direct hit to the B pillar of the cab (passenger side, thank God) from a late model 4x4 Ford Ranger. Idiot ran a light and T-boned me at about 35 mph!!! My 150 changed lanes and rolled straight, he stopped cold right where he was. The impact pushed in the B-pillar about 8", got the roof, floor pan, door sill, both doors, front 1/4 panel, windshield, dash, passenger seat, hood, etc. Whole cab was pushed 2-1/2" over on the frame (frame might have been bent too).

Mine ran after the fuel pump was reset, his was absolute junk all the way back to the windshield. Nobody hurt at all, just sore for a week.

He got a ticket, I ended up with a totaled truck ($16K plus to piece together a Screw cab from components at the body shop....and that was before the adders!!!).

As soon as the insurance was settled I went out and bought a new carry over Screw (2006)......If the first one could take that kind of hit and keep me from getting hurt you better believe I was getting another to replace it!!!!

Last year I came upon this guy south of my home who had taken out a extremely heavy set double-poles that hold up the freeway signs over 6 lanes of I-5. It hit in the grill dead center splitting the truck in two stopping in the middle of the bed. I was heading south and he was going north. I missed the incident by about 20 minutes.

It was especially disturbing because it looks exactly like the F150 I drive.
