2004 CD6 constantly "Initializing"

Anybody had this issue? Everytime we start the car the radio initializes itself. It actually says "INITIALIZING" on the display and it sounds like it is shuffling through every CD in there and then it finally turns on. Is there a possible fix for this before I go out and buy another unit?

I am not familiar with that unit but something to check is the fuse that goes to the memory on the unit. That should have a full time hot. It sounds like the unit is completly losing power every time you start it.

I checked fuses last night, but nothing was blown. Maybe this is a good excuse to upgrade to a touch screen.

Sounds like an internal error. Search google for ford radio repair. There are guys who repair these radios. Or, buy a used unit on ebay. They don't cost much.

I was hoping to find a DIY type answer, lol! I don't want to spend much on this one if I can avoid it. I've watched these on Ebay and most are going between $150 and $200. For that price I'd rather spend a little more and upgrade. Thanks for the help.
