I'm a fairly new owner of a ford powerstroke so i've been snooping this site for months now. I haven't posted anything because I'm no expert and i've been able to find the answers to all my questions through earlier posts, however my time has come.
Yesterday I decided to take advantage of all the rain we've been having and do some muddin, unfortunatly I ended up frame deep in muddy water and no way of getting out. The Land Rover I was with had no chance of pulling me out, so there my truck sat all night untill my buddy came today with his f350 and pulled me out.
My question is do you think any damage has been done and what fluids should be changed since they are most likely contaminated with muddy water? Both axels were burried, however the engine stayed above the water the whole time and was able to breathe fine.

It's hard to say just what was and wasn't under water but if it were my truck, as a minimum, I'd change front and rear axle lube, I'd pull the front locking hubs apart and make sure no water got into or past them, take a close look at the driveshaft carrier bearing and pull all 4 wheels and take a hose and thoroughly wash the brakes / rotors / rims etc.
It isn't so much that you were in deep mud but when you left it overnight, things that were hot cooled down and could draw water and mud in.
As a frequent mud swimmer here's what else to check. Anything with a grease zerk on it underneath you should grease. I have also run into problems with mud packing into the brakes. At least you had a buddy that could help. My last stuck cost me $133 for a wrecker to pull me out. And even he broke a winch cable........
Welcome to FTE!!!! Don't be scared to post......everybody here has something to add, we've all had our own experiences with our trucks! Get a good look at those wheel bearings too, they're not very cheap!
