heLLo people i was just wondering if you guys had any tips tricks and or tools you used to take off the 2 bolts and 2 nuts that hold the exhaust housing to the uppipe flange..... i know i can get the two top bolts off no problem but the two 15mm nuts at the bottom part are guna be tricky.....i was tinking of ways to do it and it seems like it would be easier to get the nuts off if i took the turbo off part by part...... and i was just wondering if there is a break in period for the d66 i just ordered which i shouldnt boost a certain amount or open up the truck??????? thanks very much guys!!!!
I just pulled mine off and put on a 1.0 a/r housing, and those two by far took the most time(try like two hours) It is easier to pull of the ebpv and the housing which will give you a pretty straight shot at the lower left corner. The right side there is no easy way. As old as these trucks are and the constent heat and cooling those nuts go through freeze them pretty good. I couldn't make a 3\8 swivel and socket fit, a 1/4 just barley gets in with a swivel and a 6" extension turned up towards the fire wall. i broke 1 swivel, twisted the 1/4shaft off my ratchet, and twisted the the extension before i finally stripped the nut. Ended up with a 3/4 cut-off wheel on a flex shaft with a dremel, sliced the nut off just shy of the threads then broke it with a air chisel. I also broke 1 of the bolts holding the housing to the compressor side. After that iused a torch and "freeze off" to heat and cool the nuts and bolts to loosen them. Good Luck!
