ok axleshafts are stronger than a stock rockie... however that seems to be the biggest ordeal! and dont worry i am working on the knuckles! hell i guess while i am at it i could add the trussing. then it will be stronger than a rockie!
point being... i will never have to worry about my front breaking even if i decide to jump to 44's (very likely)
i got my dana 60 front axle for 400 bucks.i would never pay 1000 for one thats to much.
Ive never seen one for $400. You got a deal! People pay $1000+ all the time. When I was in the market for one I expected to pay $1000-1200 but luckily I got it for $700
Fishy,
What kind of ujoints are you running in your axle?
the title had me thrown off, i didn't realize we were comparing rockwells here....
rockwells certainly have disadvantages in rock crawling, but those same disadvantages are the advantages in really really really high lifted trucks, obviously to get a better pinion angle on the mud trucks
you can def. build a d60 as strong if not stronger than a stock rockwell, but thats talking hella $$$, you can get a set f/r rockwells for what you can get a d60 front for....then if you go chromod 16 spliners or even the 2"ers the strength once again doesn't compare....
oh, btw guys, ya'll need to check out the chucks trucks forum from time to time, they almost always have BUILT d60/14bolt(or equivilent) combos for going insanely cheap, like b4 all the threads got deleted new years day, there was a built set d60/14b combo for 1600....b/c most people over there are on rocks or are switching to rocks....
ehhh, i'd say a toss up! but yes stubs break pretty often! course its a list of variables... joints, stubs, and lockouts are the three biggest culprits. thats why i upgraded all three at the same time
its just money, i cant take it with me when i die so i might as well spend it now

thats a low pinion 60 not worth nearly as much as a high pinion dana 60 from a ford.
Ray
true, thats just the first example i saw, there has been lots of chromod 60s/14b's that have sold insanely cheap on there, i was just trying to help ya'll looking for d60's....
