Neil I see you are a past chief of a fire company. I am a 20+ year volunteer. I did the admin side never the line officer side. Really enjoy it.
I know I am off topic but this is my thread.....lol
Hey George - I am going again with this... lol. As far as the meet, I am not sure yet. As it stands there is a wedding coming up in August on the wife's side of the family. My in-laws will be coming in from Iowa so depending on when everything happens I may or may not be able to attend.
Doug - I see that we are about the same age (you are just over two years older than me)
I have been in since '92 and the first year was a Lt. on our front line pumper/tanker, then was Capt. on it for another 9 or 10 years. Was 2nd Asst. chief for 2 years, then safety officer for a year and then Chief last year (was voted out, damn politics). This year, I took the SO (appointed) position again so that I can still be a PIA when needed. On the admin. side I have been secretary for 4 years, president for 3 and this year I got roped back into being secretary. I have really enjoyed it myself as I help to give back to the community.
Neil, i don't have the correct last name to be a line officer. lol. Politics is everywhere. You can walk into any fire company, close your eyes and they have the same issues as your company. The only thing that changes is the name of the company and the color of the appartatus. lol
