I just purchased an 03 250 crew cab and the back seat fold forward to about a 45 deg of the back wall. I've seen others that will fold flat or have a shelf for tools and what not.
I would really to get the back of the seat to fold flat. I'm putting in a massive sound system and the seat is getting in the way.
Is there an easy way to get these to fold flat or can I swap it out for a different style rear set?
Your seat will not fold flat. I don't know if the newer ones will bolt up directly without modifications. You could remove the seat for the install if that makes things easier.

Hmm, Thanks for the reply, maybe I'll look around to see what seats swap.
The seats aren't in the way for the install as much as when the system will be flexing it's mussles.
I plan on cutting the cab and will put 4 15's in the bed. The seat will restrict air flow a bit but I guess I will have to work around it.
Do you plan on having people sit back there? I know you can remove the top half of a front captains chair. I'm sure you could do that in the rear also. If you're not going to be carrying people all the time maybe just take the top half off and give yourself a true bench seat.
I looked at an 03 dually that had captains chairs front and back with center consoles in the front and back maybe you can look in to removing the bench seat and add the captains chairs and not a console I would think you would be cutting the middle section of the cab to allow for the sound to move from the bed.
Not to be a party pooper, but you do realize that the cab and bed are mounted to the frame separately, and can flex in different directions at times. If you try to hard mount something to both the cab and bed there is a good chance of it breaking, or bending the cab/bed sheetmetal, unless you build some flexibility into the connection.

Yes sir, Already addressed.
Anybody want me to post up the install as it goes?
I'll be starting a post log over on another site, I can mirror one here if anyone wants to see.
I doubt many people here would be interested in doing this to their trucks, but a lot of us do like to see examples of other people's handywork. I say go ahead and post some pics when you're done.

Thanks,
Will do, Maybe I'll post the build down in the Audio / Video section.
Your "fold flat" seat you saw is likely from an 06 model year truck, you might find it in an 05. It should be a direct bolt in, but you gotta find the WHOLE shebang. Seat, rack, everything from the floorbolts up. Its not really fold flat though. The bottom flips up and a metal rack folds forward to give a storage deck behind the seats. The only true fold flat design I know of was in the ABS exectended cab trucks. The bottom seat would flip 180 degrees forward and the back would lay down flat to create a seamless metal deck. With a little fab work, I bet you could stick one of those OBS seats into a newer truck. THe key is the mounts that ahve to be welded to the cab crossmember. I have done it in older trucks with pop rivets, never tried stuffing it into a new truck though.
