screw vs new dodge?

i know there are alot of dodge haters around. ive heard all the horror stories . but have you guys seen the 2002s? granted there isnt as much cab room as a screw but a 7yr 100000 mile warranty? seems nice. ive built comprable trucks of the screw and dodge with the dodge being around 4 to 5 grand less. i love the screw but my wallet wont. any input guys ? thanks

Well a Dodge hater I'm not but I just traded my Dakota SLT+ for a SCrew. I know that the Dak is not a full size but here is the problem-SERVICE. I live outside of San Antonio, Texas- ain't no little town.We have 3 dealerships here-2 are 5star rated. That means they are the best Dodge has. Everytime I had to have mine in the shop, they kept it a week. No parts- had to order parts. While I can say I really enjoyed the Dak, it was grossly unreliable. I had it 16 months, bought it new, listed for 24500. on the window, the best trade-in I could get was 11500 and the guy I traded it to put it on the used car lot befroe I left. His comment was" this truck is like brand new". Dodges are not worth anything at trade cause nobody wants them. The brakes and other parts only have 12000 mile warranty. Some items have NO warranty. The tranny and differential require fluid changes every 30000 miles. When was the last time you changed you rearend fluid? The auto trannys are renown for failure. Are you sure you want a Dodge?

screw vs new dodge?

I owned a 00 Ram for a year. It was was good truck but i had the same problem with service. I made an appointment with the service dept. to have the heater core replaced(leaking inside the tuck) and a few other minor problems. I drove to the dealership and there was a line of cars around the side of the building waiting for service. I waited for an hour for a service writer to finally get to me and told me they could not get to me for another 4 hours. He said there was no way to get a loaner because they were all out. I left the dealership and traded the truck in a week later with a bad heater core.

Poor service and a lack of hp. are the reasons i will not buy another dodge.

I too am not a Dodge hater. My Son has a 2001 4X4 Extended Cab Dodge with the 360 engine. His only problems after 10,000 miles are premature tire wear, and TERRIBLE gas mileage. It's true the Dodges are a little less expensive to buy, model for model, however the problem is Resale Value!!! The Dodge really suffers there. I am a long time Ford person, but I have driven the Dodge, and I would take my 2002 Super Crew any time over the best Dodge has to offer.

Don't know why this misconception about the Supercrew having more room than the DodgeQC
The Dodge has more room.
Don't believe me check out the dimension comparisons at Edmunds
I also test drove both with my wife and found it to be true
Dodge has as much head and leg room front and back and more hip and shoulder room both front and back

I saw one of those new Dodge's a couple of days ago, and I think it's ugly. I'll stick with Ford. I tend to like the Ford SD better than the Dodge's right now too!.

[updated:LAST EDITED ON 14-Feb-02 AT 09:07 AM (EST)]ive been renting the 2002 slt dodge for a week, while my 99 5.4 with 3k gets a new engine. i like it never thought id say it. i miss my truck ext cab, but the dodge has bigger breaks for one and the longer bed rocks. havent test drove the supercrew and not key on such a tiny bed. been riding it hard and getting about what i do with my 5.4,, 10-11.

while my 99 offroad with 32k on it was getting a new engine, enterprise gave me a new 2002 quad cab. the first thing i noticed was how much interior room there was and the seats were higher in the back. i had a "coming at u look" . really agressive. set up in goodyear rts,, mine has ats,, it felt squirlly at first, but as i got use to the smooth suspension and tires, it rode like a car and i drove it like a race car. smooth transmission. the bigger brakes are readily noticeable, big plus. doesnt have near the torque of my ford but has nice rumble. they increased the airflow 40% and when u start it up it rumbles. just like my single cat gibson. if i didnt use my truck for work and didnt care so much about being a motorhead, id consider getting one. great family truck. never would of considered one or recommend one if i didnt have the chance to ride one.

The trouble is that Dodge will be using a LOT of that warranty
They aren't known for their quality and detail.

I'd rather drive a truck that doesn't NEED the warranty

Piston slap on the 5.4s
Gasket problems on the 5.4s
Door cracks

Most trucks seem to have problems
