I am trying to figure out if my rear leaf springs are bent. I have an 2005, F250, CC, 4x4, V10 King Ranch with the stabalizer package. This is a 9600# GVWR. When I look at the rear spring they dont have a continuous radius from shackel to shackel, rather there appears to be a flat section over the axle mounts and then bend down slightly at the U bolts before curving back up to the shackles. I stopped at a local spring shop for advice and was told the springs look normal.
Is this correct?
BTW- I have already installed a set of Timbren SES rubber leveler springs and they have the normal spacing between jounce stop and spring on both sides.
I also have an 05 F250 that the springs look the same way. I didn't remember my 04 F350 looking that way either. I bought mine used so I was wondering the same thing. Anybody?????
i have had a ew dually 350 psd'sandnever had the inclintion nor desire to crawl under and look at the rear springs. oranyhin else except to service the vehicle. i fact, my 05 has no rear springs at all.
I've got some 05/06/07 250 & 350's at work. If I get a chance tomorrow and one of them is at the shop in daylight I'll snap a photo and post it. Maybe someone else can post a pic if they have one closer by.
Hey Chris thanks for the picture. Those look similar to mine from this angle but it is hard to tell. If your received my pictures can you tell me how they compare. Also, in your picture there is an extra leaf over the top of the spring pack, is this OEM or did you add it?
I never did receive any pictures from you, but have been having some email issues lately. If you send them again I'll post them.
The extra leaf is the factory overload spring. It's designed to provide extra support once the truck sags a certain amount. You can these overload or helper springs as an aftermarket item.

F350-6, it looks like in your picture you have a broken leaf. maybe its the picture angle but if you look at the side foward of the axle, the first leaf on top of the very bottom thick leaf looks like it is broken because of the curve, it doesnt match the other leafs at all.

Well I guess I know what I'll be checking Monday morning. I wonder if it's just how it handles the weight. I also took a picture looking down over the wheel and don't see any cracks in this pic but who knows. Thanks for pointing that out.
Here are the photos from Hobie16 the original poster. These are pictures of his springs. I think his springs look fine. I believe this is just how the newer trucks are attempting to get a smoother ride.

it might be. it looks fine from your second pic but the first one the camera agle might be playing tricks but i would at least check it out.
As for the OP, i dunno, im not overly knowledgable when it comes to springs but they dont look right to me. And there is no helper spring on top either? did you own the truck since new?
my 01 springs look exactly the same, the previous owner at one time had a fith wheel hitch in it,and I see that yours has a fith wheel hitch also or had at one time,so either both of our springs are shot or more then likely that is how they are.
I have looked very closely at the individual springs and can not find any cracks or other indications of broken leafs, just the odd curve pattern. You are right about the 5th wheel. I tow a 32 foot Lakota and the pin weight is 2100#. My firsts trip out, about 400 miles, I was unhappy with the amount of sag so I installed a set of Timbren SES rubber springs [ http://www.anythingtruck.com/susp_timbren.html ] now the truck only drops about an inch and a half more than the front when I put the fiver on and the springs pack look no different than when unloaded.
