Question about gears

Here pretty quick I'm gonna need a set of tires and I'm planning on going with some Toyo M/T's in 35x12.50 20R on my stock 20"s.

I currently have and hate 3.73's and I'm thinking of goin 4.10's but I wonder if 4.56's would be better for me. I do a lot of highway driving so the 4.56's would hurt a little but I pull my hunting wagon around fairly often and it with the trailer totals out to 12-14K.

Would the 4.56's be over kill with 35"s on stockers or would 4.10's suit me better?

As long as my mileage stays around 15ish I'll be happy but I like the grunt of the lower gears.

What do you guys think and if you have experience with 35"s and 4.10's or 4.56's let me know.

Tow a lot at the 12-14K range = 4.56s to be happy with the towing & live with whatever impact there is on unloaded driving

50%/50% mix of medium/heavy towing & unloaded driving = 4.30s to find that "balance"

Mostly unloaded driving with some medium/heavy towing = 4.10s to be happy with unloaded driving & live with towing performance/mileage

Tough call...I'm sure some folks that have done gear changes will chime in at some point!

I am running 35" tires with 4.30 gears and it is a good setup. I occasionally tow my 10k trailer and it tows fine but if I was towing the trailer alot I would go to 4.56 without a doubt.

37's with 3.73 are said to be really hard on tranny, even if you don't tow. 4.10 would be closer to the stock set (3.73) with 37's, but then again what is your stock tire size? Check the drivers door sticker! For my truck the mfr's tire size is 34.1 (on 20's) and a stock gear of 3.73, either the 4.10 or the 4.30 will get me back in the range of the stock setup with 37's.

The effective gear ratio going from a 34.1 diameter to a 37 diameter with 3.73 is 3.44:1. To get me back to stock I would need a 4.05:1 gear ratio with 37's. I can choose either 4.10 or 4.30, 4.30 or above if towing, 4.10 can tow as well but 4.30 & up will give better tow performance while 4.10 will give better economy.
