My head lights come on dim when I 1st start my truck up for 8 to 10 seconds. I notice it more this time of year with the snow reflecting back. My truck is an '07 6.0 the batteries seem to be up and I have not done any mods to the electrical system. I've thought it had something to do with the glow plugs being on and that they may be 24 volt that may draw more than the alternater is putting out for a shot while. There is no other time that this happens.
You can use a volt meter and see just how many volts are being drained during that time. I know before I replaced my OEM batteries I was have them drained to almost 9.3 volts. This was causing my alarm to trip when I did a remote start killing the truck. Sinceless sensitivity I guess.
Thank you GregsSD. I didn't know if it was anything to worry about. But it is kind of scarry seeing those lights brighten up to normal and knowing the glow plugs could be on for as much as 2 minutes after starting.
The glow plug systems draw about 90 Amps for up to 2 min. this will drop your voltage for that time then it will pop up to 14V. This is normal and you have nothing to worry about.
im guessing this is why my remote start stops the truck??? i believe it is set to monitor voltage to know when it is started and if there is that much of a draw it just kills the truck?? i know you can set it to monitor tach but that didnt work for my truck something about a "dirty" tach wire?? anyone know a little more and how i can get my remote start to work better...its annoying having your truck start and stop so many damn times
U can use the tach drop behind the emergency brake or u can tap in directly to the tach vref at the injector/coil. The injector/coil will be much more reliable.
fordsdowner if i were to use the tach vref at the injector/coil would the remotestart work correctly 100 percent of the time? and i had it installed at a pretty reputible stereo shop what should i tell them about it? when i first got it done i was having problems and they kinda fixed it now im having this issue....thanks buddy

Everyone I know of who has tied theirs to the injector/coil has had no issues afterwards. Any stereo shop should know this I image. Worst case, have them throw a monitor on it to see were it is currently failing with-in you setup you have now.
You might find that it just has not been "learned" correctly or al all.
