Accumulator Spring Problem???

I think i may have a problem with my transmission. My transmission sometimes feels like it doesn't want to shift into 2nd gear from 1st. Also I have the same problem sometimes on the downshift from 2nd to 1st.

Now, i read in another an expedition forum that it may be the accumulator spring. could this possibly be the problem? When my expy wants to shift into 2nd at slow speeds it makes a clacking noise, the same could be heard on the downshift as well.

I need help...

My expy is a '01 4.6L XLT 4x2. this may sound dumb but how do i find out what type of tranny i have?

Look up the TRAN code on the door sticker. It's probably a 4R70W.
