where is the abs controller?

where is the abs controller?
The dealer told me I need to have them replace the ABS controller b4 they could run diagonstic on the system. I ordered it but now I'm wondering if I could put it in myself, if I could locate it. Where is it? Does it need to be programmed? This is on a 99 ranger.
