I'm thinking its time for a transmission fluid change. When the truck shifts from 1st to 2nd gear it a hard shift. The only time it doesn't happen is if I'm accelerating pretty quick & the truck is under a decent load. If I'm just taking it easy the hard shift is there only from 1st to 2nd gear. Your thoughts?
My truck since day one has always hit 2nd very hard when i am getting on it. We have changed fluid 3 times so far 156K miles and still does it. It was just made that way.
Mine didn't do this when I got it so that's what leads me to believe that I need to change the fluid. It also does the opposite of yours. It shifts smooth when I'm on it. Only when I'm taking it easy I get the hard shifts. I'm gonna be changing the fluid soon & go from there. Any other opinions out there?
Mines got 39k on it. I bought it used, and it shifts hard when I`m not on it, just like "EX40". Smooth when I`m on it Previous owner said he had fluid changed at 30k. Had another `05 Limited before this one and it always shifted smooth, racing around or puttin. Anyone else having same issues?
I have a 2000 Expedition 4X4 that does the same thing. A fluid change and flush did not help. I think it may be a bad shift solinoid. Let us know what happens.

I had a abs light on the dash as well. I had a mechanic run the codes & found the rear speed sensor bad. Replace the sensor & it has been better. Shifts better now. He told me b/c the speed sensor was bad the computer couldn't determine the speed at which to shift. Mine was really banging hard on the shift. I can still feel it somewhat but nowhere near as bad as it was. Before it felt like the trans was gonna fall out. We'll see what happens.
When it warms up I'm gonna climb under & make sure all bolts are tight. I remember reading somewhere here that a crossmember bolt may not be fully tightened.
If it were a bad shift solenoid it wouldn't shift 1-2. I think it may be a broken 1-2 accumulator spring. This can be replaced without removing the trans.
