Check out WVO Centrifuge and Conversion Designs
he posted free plans, parts list, wiring schematics , everything to build your system from scratch. It is a DIY build of the vegistroke system. Great Info

With your two veg tank idea,in cold temps the unheated tank could resemble a block of lard not allowing any oil to flow to your heated tank .Thats why we heat the tank, to get things flowing . You don't need to try to heat the whole tank(although that is a side effect) you need to concentrate heat around where your fuel pickup is going to be.

I use Mercedes (bosch) aux coolant pumps on my PSD's. The problem is more low coolant temps and low coolant flow at low RPM's - ie, city driving, especially in cold weather. At least the coolant pump ensures your VO coolant loop is getting coolant at least as hot as what's in the engine block.

Also, put the VO coolant loop paralell to the heater core. Then place a valve on the heater core supply. I close that valve all the way in summer for cooler AC and only open it 1/4 way in winter for plenty of cabin heat. This forces more flow to the VO loop...

A few posters here really have alot to learn about VO conversions. Sorry guys! You'll find the best up-to-date knowlege at frybrid, the resources section, VO theory, etc in the blue tabs should be your first reading. wvodesigns has plans for a vegistroke rip-off, including parts lists and vendors - but I don't agree with all of the 'science' there. In fact, I think ALOT of people put WAAAAY to much faith in the PSD heads heating the VO. I just tore my engine down after 120k veggie miles and found ABSOLUTELY NO CARBON BUILD UP whatsoever. I can't speak for less heat, but I can tell you beyond a shadow of a doubt that putting 160-200* VO into the heads will yeild good results (and of course never switching over until operating temp, no extended idling on VO, NO VO in the diesel tank (NONE!!!), always purging all of the VO out of heads before shutdown, etc.)

Have fun learning and Good Luck!!! I always say choose wisely or PLEASE post pics of the carnage!

Waste veggie oil because of its acidic PH will eat your water hoses and turn them to mush. I did a WVO conversion on the 1981 toyota pick up years ago...it ran for about 25,000 more miles before it took out the diesel pump I think. But all the fuel lines that had rubber in them the WVO eventually took out. For awhile there seemed like i was changing alot of them as they went out. Once on a trip to Salem Oregon several hundred miles away, one of the smaller fuel line hoses developed a leak and was pumping oil on the road as driving, dont really know how much i lost before I could find an auto parts store to get more hose. I think i switched to high temp transmission line hose and it lasted a little longer

Good luck with that. I've met several people like you who got lucky for awhile - some longer than you - but it always ends the same way, badly. And there is no indication its going wrong until its BROKE. You may see increased wear in UOA's, but likely not until its too late - ie, cylinder wall wear from coking in ringland. I'm not trying to bust your chops or take cheap-shots because I did it different - besides, I'm sure you've already heard it all by now.... Seriously, good luck! PLEASE post pics of the carnage if it doesn't work out for ya though - OK??? You may save 100's of people in the future the trouble you will have.

Water injection MAY prevent the coking/carbon build-up and even clean the junk you've already accumulated! Might be a good idea with some of the money yer savin'............. still a bandaid tho......

Why are you running WVO through your water hoses?

Im sorry I may have misunderstood the thread, thought someone was talking about putting WVO directly in their coolant system to heat it, as they were asking about the effects on the water pump. I do not use WVO in my coolant system to heat it. Although I have thought of using new veggie oil in the coolant system as it would not freeze solid until well below zero and might even lubricate the water pump.
