Head Gaskets Again

2006 f350 supercab
6.0 deisel, auto
Absoulutly pure bone stock!

Well i'm not a happy camper. Looks like my head gaskets are gone yet again. Whistling sound coming from the overflow bottle on hard acceleration cloudy and brown antifreeze and black soot/carbon film from exhaust in the overflow bottle.

Seems like the dealer didnt want to beleive me when the head gaskets went at 58k that the turbo was overboosting and that the veins might be stuck but hey what do i know. Now the turbo is overboosting again the truck runs like a bat out of hell but bye bye head gaskets.

Not to mention that at 20k they replaced the shocks. Then at 40k all 4 ball joints were done. And at 55k the front wheel bearings were done(all waranty thank god) Then 58k my first head gasket replace and now at 115k they are gone again.

Just wondering if i have a good chance to demand a new motor possibly or even free extended waranty. The truck is great i really prefer the ford over dodge gm/chev for a work truck. If ford doesn't give me a new motor probally gonna sell it and buy a new one.

Get yourself a set of ARP head studs and have them installed with the new head gaskets, Also, make sure to check that the heads are not warped.

What is the build date of the truck and are are you towing big/heavy? Also, I second the ARP studs recommended by toolman

Not sure of the build date but it is tow truck and i tow everyday hence the 115k in less than 2 years. Now the studs idea is a good one. Dealer said they sent the heads out last time. Just wondering if they checked the block for warping.

I third the motion for ARP studs, while the cab is off if a machine shop is able to have them machine your heads(once you have blown gasket doesn't matter if you stud the head or not by itself need to have the heads machined or replaced) or this will just repeat itself as far as the gaskets go(trust me, been there done that). I would actually see this as a chance to upgrade now with the studs as already mentioned and doing some other goodies, it would still be cheaper then buying a new truck and getting new payments etc. Also if you do it all at once, most shops will only charge you the labor on the studs. That's what I would do if funds and everything willing will let you do that(which can be a big if).

Well it's all waranty work so its only costing me the hundred bucks and a weeks of lost wages because its my source of income. Is it worth calling Ford and trying to get some compensation like a new motor or extended waranty or maybe even something to drive while the dealer takes a week to install the gaskets.

Big problem is that its a tow truck and i have alot of extra wiring and equipement so they don't take the cab off they pull the motor so ity takes longer.

In my opinion(and for some that doesn't mean a whole lot), you could certainly try to fish and see if they would be willing to work with you. I would think the latter two would be easier to accomplish then the new motor, but I could be wrong, you certainly have had your fair share of issues.

I was wondering why they were going to keep it for a week, headstuds are a long job period but 3-4 days, but I see now why it could take a week.

Well got the truck back after a week and was told that it wasn't the head gaskets it was the egr cooler and oil cooler.

So they threw the egr cooler and oil cooler in and i picked it up on friday at 4pm. Make it about 10k from the dealer and the dreaded whistle is still there. But it gets better. Half way up a hill i hear a big Woosh! the hose running from the turbo to the intercooler poped off. So I couldnt put it back on because the clamp broke so i towed it home and then back to the dealer in the morning.

The mechanic threw a clamp on for me and i was on my way.................NOT.
The engine light came on half way home. parked it in the drivway checked all fluids looked for any loose wires everything looked ok until i checked the overflow bottle.

The coolant is Brown and has a lovley coating of black oil in it not to mention a whilte milky substance all over the place. So im leaning towards the head gaskets like origionally thought. The truck is at the dealer today and they have to phone fords tech line to see what they want to do as it is all warranty repairs, Im hoping they put an entire new engine.
