Climate Control

I have an 02 X and was wondering if it is normal that the climate control turns off every time you turn the truck off. Wait, I should say that its off every time I turn the truck on.

No, My 02Ex. keeps its settings for temperature , vent/defog position after I turn off vehicle & upon restart.
But if I have it on Auto mode, the fan and vent position does stay in an off mode or delay until the engine coolant is warmed up and it seems long when the temp is around 0deg. F.
If that helps any.

Thanks, I didn't think it was suppost to stay off. The service guy at the ford dealer said that there is a short term memory within that system, and if you make frequent short trips it will learn not to turn on automaticaly. This sounds like BS. Anyone else have this problem.

It should stay the way you left it. But like move over said if it's cold the fan will not start blowing until the engine warms up a little. We don't have that problem here in Florida much.

I do like the auto setting the most. You just set it and forget it.

I've done a search on EATC and it seems that there are alot of problems with this. Not so much as mine, loosing its memory, but they cut out when they are on. Maybe its on its way out. RACERX7775 how much are you looking to get for yours??

Racer, what kind of a job was it to retrofit the '06 auto climate controls into your '01? I'm not liking the manuals....

If you're saying when you start the truck the climate control display stays off. Try turning on the headlights for just a second. I read that tip somewhere and it works on my Ex. It does it sometimes and the wife just blips the headlight switch and it comes on. Don't ask me why probably something to do with the GEM or something.

Can anyone else shed some light on this problem, its like my heater is loosing its memory. When I start the truck the heater is off every time (have to turn it on manually). If you turn the truck off then back on within ten seconds the heater will come back on. Anything longer it stays off till I turn it back on. Headlights on or off or turning the switch does nothing.
