Hey guys I have a 2005 lariat 4wd cc lb srw and would like to get a set of ss wheel to wheel nerf bars to set my truck apart from the others. Like the idea of the third step to access the bed of the truck (I am not getting any younger) Not worried about clearance as I do little to no off roading, using the truck to pull my fifth wheel. Most the web sights I see have them for the cc sb but not the cc lb. Any help or pics would be great. Thanks!
There are several companies putting out wheel to wheel nerf bars and running boards. Putco puts out a 4"diameter wheel to wheel nerf bar. I've seen it in person installed on a CC lg box. Looks good and I tested (jumped up and down) on the third step, no give. Most of these bars mount to the cab and the main bar supports itself (+ the third step)past the cab.
Because of the long distance from the back of the cab to the rear tire there are only a few companies that offer wheel to wheel step bars for the crew cab long bed. As far as I know only Nasta, Putco, Go Rhino, and Nfab do.
I would like to see any pictures people have of wheel to wheel bars installed on a crew cab long bed as well though. I am trying to decide if I want to get a set of those, or a set of powered AMP Research steps for my truck. A wheel to wheel set would make it much easier to get stuff out of my toolbox though.
Some wheel to wheel ones mount to the frame, others mount to the cab and extend back. They can't mount to the bed since it is mounted independant of the cab and would damage the cab if the bed and cab flexed in opposite directions.
According to Westin's site they only make them for the Crew Cab short bed. I looked into it as I have the Westin wheel to wheel bars from my extended cab short bed in my spare bedroom and I liked them, but they wont' fit the new truck, they are for sale in the classified section here if anybody needs them though.
