Help hard to start after sitting
I have a 2000 F550 with 7.3. Engine seems to run well, I have a hard time starting after the truck has been parked for a couple of days. Had it to a dealer the could not find any problems, said the pressure in fuel system were all good. Cooler weather seems to make matters worse. It will start but have to crank it excessively and then engine runs rough and smokes for about 10 to 12 minutes. If the truck is driven every day never seem to have problems starting.

Welcome to FTE. Next time the truck has set for a day or two check the oil level in the HPOP (High Pressure Oil Pump) before you try to start it. The oil should be within 1" of the top. The HPOP is the rectangular shaped box between the fuel bowl and the radiator. There is a plug on the right hand side with you can remove with an allen wrench to check oil level. Oil comes from the engine so it's the same stuff you use when you change your oil.
In the photo you can see the HPOP next to the fuel filter along with a few sensors labeled which might come in handy down the road.

mine does the same thing, and know one knows why?? iv'e checked my oil in the hpop, batt's 800cc are new, glow plugs + relay are new? so when you fined out i would like to know, iv'e spent a lot of time and $$ replacing things tring to find out why.
