Well ive been battling the problem for some time now, as you can see in my sig. Well today is the last straw. In CT we got up to about 60deg today, nice right... WRONG. It seem whenever its warm outside 55+deg my truck knocks like none other when idleing. Everytime I came to a stop sign, or red light it started knocking nice and loud. The only other mod I can do is the regulated return. But I dont want to spend $400 on something that might not fix it, like everthing else ive done. I just dont understand why it only happends when its warm, the truck idles like a top when its in the 40s or bellow. Does anyone know why this only happens when its warm?
I had the same issue with my 00, and got rid of just about all the knock with a CCK, and increasing my fuel preussure to 68-70psi. I started with the in tank /pre pump mods, and it helped a little, but doing the CCK and FPR it cleaned the knocking up a bunch it now knocks every now and again.
I was on the fence about spending the big $$$ for a RR kit, so I wnet with the CCK and have been very happy.
believe it or not i had the same prob. with my 99. and found it was the torqe converter gone bad. at idle it was so bad it sounded like it was going to blow up rite in front of me. once off idle it was quite as a mouse. i replaced the converter, now its more quite than a 6.0.
Swapping the #8 injector out after doing HPX, reg return and tank mods should just about clear up noise, if it's the engine that's actually the cause. Based on your mods list, that's the only other thing I can think of....
I dont have a LL injector thats why I was going to go with the reg return. I know its not the TC, the knocking is coming from the driver side of the motor. I do have a parker store 3 miles from my house who ive bought some things from before, i might just build the reg return myself. Does anyone have a parts list? I think the fuel rail plugs in the heads are 1/4"ntp. So I could get some ntp to jic straight adapters, then the SS braided line with swivel nuts so it would be easy to put together.
Well i always run DK and rotella 5w40 syn. Id try some bio but theres none to be found in the CT area. Im also going to change my UVC harness to the updated one, I know it might not help at all but its cheap enough.
