I am considering buying a 97 150 from my son-in-law. It has the 4.6 v8 and auto tranny. No HD stuff that I can tell. I would like to decode the data plate so I can know what I might get. The bottom lines read like this:
HB(139)|BRK(B)|
INT TR(M2)|TP/PS(1)|R()|AXLE(19)|TR(U)|SPR(P F)
The characters in ( ) are printed directly below the previous letters.
THe TR(U) means it has an AOD tranny and the AXLE(19) means it has 3:55 gears in the diff(s). I _think_ HB = 139in wheelbase and I dont know the others. The TR and AXLE values are for an expedition that pqdford posted in another thread not long ago, I think they are the same for F-150s.
OK, thanks for the info! It answers the most pressing question I had, which was does it have LSD (no), and what is the rear end ratio (3.55). Since it has the extra tranny cooler and factory hitch, I assumed it has the tow package. Once again, thanks. If I buy the truck, I'll be spending a lot of time here! Happy New Year to all!
