My Navi has the 100 and I'd swear I read somewhere here that the 4x4 & 5.4 combo got the 100. Pehpas it was only when the towing package was part of the original build?

Actually, the 4r70w has the pan that is close to being square and the 4r100 has a long rectangular pan with a 2" x 2" piece missing out of the right rear corner.
Pretty easy to drop the pan, the filter just pulls off (I think). Others can correct me, but I think you want to make sure the little tan o-ring is on the tube that you push the trans filter on to. (And make sure the old one comes off).
The trick is to take all of the pan bolts out except two in a corner, which are just loosened. This allows the fluid to drain out of a coner and you can control it.
If you have the 4R100 there should be a drain plug in the pan, which makes it even easier. Now then, you are going to want to remove the black rubber plug and look for a tiny plug in the torque converter, which you will remove and drain the fluid from it as well. And if you have some compressed air, you can blow the cooler lines out as well.
Once you have the pan off, you are going to want to look for excessive metal shavings. There will be a magnet in your pan that will likely be covered in shavings, don't let that freak you out. Do clean out the pan so it is spic and span, don't forget to put the new filter in, and bolt it back up. (The gasket is reusable.) Add about 7 quarts and fire her up, then add the remaining 8 or so quarts (I don't remember exactly how much it takes.)
