pulsing headlights

I have a 2004 f-350 crew cab with a 6.0 diesel. I have noticed that the headlights are pulsing when accelarating. What would be the cause? I'm thinking voltage regulator but not certain. Any ideas?

Alternator. The voltage regulator is integral to the alternator.

And if you haven't replaced batteries since new, it would be a VERY good time to do it at thesame time. That will prevent replacing the alternator again because of a bad battery. Advisable to replace diesel batteries in pairs.

is it when the truck is cold? it could just be the glow plugs cycling. they draw alot of juice.

I kinda had a suspicion that it might be the altenater . The batteries are brand new . It only does it when the engine is warm.
