Welcome to FTE
Why do you need casting numbers?
They don't really tell you anything, because casting numbers don't translate to part numbers.

But they will tell one the age of the engine
Check in the V90* (Small block) forum .
They didn't put 351W's in These 73-79 Trucks so it really doesn't apply here

The same casting numbers may be used for years, how will that tell someone the year? All that will tell is the year the casting was
first done.
Example: D1VE-6015-AB .. 429/460 bare block was cast in 1971...the same casting was still being used in 1979!
The 351W block/heads were first cast in 1968 for model year 1969. The finished block was used thru 1978.
Please explain to me how the 1969 casting date will help someone date their engine. It won't!
351W = Ford/Merc passenger cars 1969/86. Econolines 1975 thru 1996. F Series trucks and Bronco's 1980 thru 1996.

I'm talking about the actual DATE Cast code.
ie: *5B22*
Or *1K20* as shown below

Exactly right Mil1ion. Casting numbers have their use in identifying a component, but the date code tells you the very day, month, and year that the particular component came out of the casting mold. On 90-degree V engines the codes are found just above the starter along the pan rail, IIRC.
